Although much more effective on short-timed events, this ability also counts in for long-term plans- however, it fails often, as unplanned events happen. Zedhryn also has the ability to read in various languages, from his native dragon tongue to elvish, and even a few dead tongues. However, he is only able to speak 3 languages. Zedhryn believes it’s better to be alone than in bad company, and won’t hesitate to kick away from his side those he considers a burden. Consequently, Zedhryn prefers to work alone, or at least have his authority clearly established by hierarchy, where he can set and achieve his goals without debate or worry over other's reliability. Being a jack-of-all-trades, Zedhryn finds it easy to apply himself to a variety of situations, picking up and applying new data and grasping the details of challenging situations as a matter of course.
Temperament: Zedhryn lacks patience, which has gotten him into trouble more than once. People close to him often joke about he really is cold-blooded, due to his quietness and constant observing of his surroundings. Even though this is a nervous habit, and very useful for his job, Zedhryn’s constant observations are motivated by paranoia, and a strong need to survive and have everything under control. A very powerful OCD that Zedhryn tries to keep at bay, but along with the paranoia, keeps Zedhryn on edge, able to notice even the slightest change in scenario. Although he won’t react harshly, he will be deeply annoyed by having things not in order, and can become truly stressed and distressed under chaos. Always following logic and instincts rather than emotions, Zedhryn is known to sometimes be truly cold, but not on purpose, simply brushing aside being led by emotions, as much as it might hurt. Normally quiet and only talking when he thinks appropriate and necessary, this façade can quickly be broken by annoying the dragon, something remarkably hard for someone with such little patience and big pride. Sometimes, Zedhryn will look seemingly angry, close to rude in his talking and snorting. In reality, it's incredibly difficult to anger the dragon- he is most likely simply being bold in answer to something that has annoyed him, witty and sassy and very straight-forward in his annoyance. Zedhryn can easily feel awkward in unknown situations, where his control of the situation is out of the window, and the stress caused by this makes his brain unable to properly process a way to act. This will result in Zedhryn awkwardly mumbling, nervously eyeing and pointing with his head at the cause of this distress, and eventually falling completely silent unless he gets a hold of the situation. Around those he trusts, however, Zedhryn becomes more affable and talkative, engaging in conversation and joking quite often, a small smile and chuckle every now and then if someone happens to match his humor. Although he tries his best to hide it, Zedhryn has a true soft spot for Ros, another dragon that crossed paths with him and became his travelling companion. Zedhryn can be seen smiling wide and talking pretty much all the time in his companion, showing a much more laid-back, sociable, friendly and caring attitude towards the man. Attitude: Wary, Cautious, Calm. Weakness: Zedhryn’s dragon form side gills are incredibly sensitive. Normally covered by the hard scales, they however can be easily reached with a bite or a scratch. Only when relaxed and feeling safe does Zedhryn let the bright yellow gills be seen. They are used to storage water, which cools down or warms up his blood to keep an even temperature- having these water storages empty will also take its toll on Zedhryn, limited to his body’s natural temperature regulation, having to be much more careful on his traveling. Talking about his family is a sore point, his nights filled with nightmares of the day he lost them. A wrecked hypothalamus, not properly working, left Zedhryn with barely a few hours of sleep per night, up to 5-6 at best. His body temperature, even as human, is down to 25ºC, and Zedhryn has to be very careful on keeping it stable, hypothermia and hyperthermia always a threat. Zedhryn is very protective over his family- or rather, the ones he considers family. Threatening to hurt Kenji or Deimos will put Zedhryn between sword and wall, willing to take the hit and fight with his life for them. Upon meeting Ros, the man soon gets thrown into that group of people, Zedhryn willingly leaving his own path to find a way to survive the spirit to help the man find his family and return home, going as far to kill a group of bandits without a second thought in order to keep him safe. The time spent with Ros means a lot to Zedhryn, but unfortunately, has shortened his own time to live a great deal, slowly weakening the dragon and making the spirit stronger. Fears: Nolmë (Spirit of Knowledge) taking over his body, losing control.
Phobias: Lightning (later on) Secrets: For the longest time, he tries to keep Nolmë’s existence hidden from Ros, afraid of his reaction. He also keeps the spirit’s existence hidden from strangers, and his real dragon form, playing human. Regrets: Having made the deal with the Spirit, having forgotten and ignored the stories about poor fools that lost their life to them in exchange for something not worth it, and having dealt with it on his own for so long. Feels Vulnerable When: Hasn’t slept for more than 3 days, winter is coming and temperatures start dropping, his water storage is empty and he depends on his own thermoregulation. Pet Peeves: Don’t talk to him about his missing sister. Motivation: Getting rid of the spirit, hope of a better life, Ros. Short Term Goals: Find Ros’ family, get rid off Nolmë and be free again. Long Term Goals: To find his missing sister, protect others from making the same mistake he did. Exercise Routine: Given the chance to, Zedhryn will swim for nearly an hour or two daily. Travelling constantly keeps him in good shape, forced to climb, swim, walk for hours and run if necessary. He also hones his blade combat skills daily, training his movements for a while, to let out steam and keep his wits sharp. Rarely, but from time to time, Zedhryn will need to let out stress and steam through push-ups and abdominal crunches. Dragon Physical Description: Quite tall and bulky creature with strong legs and sharp claws, showing off 4 toes on each paw, along an extra dew claw. His paws can’t be used as hands, nor can he grab things properly with them, and his claws are non-retractable. Long and strong neck, from where a black horse-like mane grows, and extends all the way to the end of his neck. Long tail armored with hard scales, four of them having grown in the shape of spiked horns at the very end of the tail, which he uses to attack. The tip of the tail is protected by more fur. Broad bat-like wings twice his size grow his shoulders, strong enough to carry the dragon flying high through long distances and fast enough to dodge lightning in advance when flying through storms. Wings can also be used for diving, and have a small amount of feather on their underside, as well as on the base on shoulders. The membrane between fingers is partially transparent, and stronger than it may appear to the eye. Unlike other dragons, and even his siblings, Zedhryn lacks a thumb on his wings.
Long muzzle similar to that of an alligator, though much shorter and slightly wider, which holds strong and long fangs that are used to inject poison upon biting. Zedhryn lacks ears, and his hearing orifice is hidden behind fins that grow from his cheek, and a handful of feathers. 2 horns similar to those of a kudu, but that grow on a straight line. From a space forced between scales, more horns grow, reducing their size as they reach the end of the neck. Hard scales cover his whole body, hardest ones growing from under eyes to reflect the sunlight, to underside of his neck, chest, tummy and tail. The frontal parts of his four legs are armored with those scales as well, and his toes resemble those of a bird when it comes to scales on them, showing powerful talons. Very athletic dragon, made out of pure muscle due to the constant physical exercising, be it swimming, flying or fighting. He is very fast, and has an attack strategy similar to that of a snake: bite, hit and run. Biting will result in his target being poisoned, which gives him a great advantage if he manages to outrun his adversary. His tongue, although not noticeable at sight, resembles that of a cat: tiny barbs cover the upper side, allowing Zedhryn to easily keep a prey in his mouth without it being able to slip away from the deadly grasp. His sides are vulnerable to attacks, where gills are placed and easily unprotected, and he can be bit directly into his flesh from there. Pelt colour: Dark purple-blue, blues, black, green, yellow, gold and red. Markings: His pelt ranges from various layers of purple and dark blues, all the way to black. The only clear, light markings that can be seen on the dragon being the clear gold line going all the way from the base of his to the end of his tail. Various irregular near-black markings cover his whole body, similar to a mix between spots and stripes, a very clear giveaway of his venomous nature. His horns also have the golden line on them. The membrane between his wing fingers is a very bright yellow-ish green, fading from clear green to bright yellow. The feathers covering his cheeks and base of neck, along with shoulders and underside of wings, are of a red-orange colour. Height: 2’60m to withers, 3’20m to head, 3’90m to tip of horns. Length: 4’80m; tail takes up to 2m of his total length. Weight: 800-950kg Strength/Weakness: With incredibly high stamina and a century of life experience on his shoulders, Zedhryn has learnt everything he knows from first experience. Travelling without a home since a very young age, even for a dragon, he had developed a very useful sense of direction, survival, and information recollection. This, along his job as Information Dealer and Spy of sorts, has turned Zedhryn into a very silent, observant man, a jack-of-all-trades. Honest and direct (to rude levels, sometimes.), emotional manipulation, mind games and reassuring lies all run counter to Zedhryn’s way of dealing with situations. His own experiences with all these things have left Zedhryn loathing all kinds of manipulation, of using knowledge as power. Strong-willed, dutiful, patient and incredibly determined, Zedhryn works hard and focused until his goal has been met, able to spend weeks, months and even years in a single task. Calm and practical, Zedhryn keeps his feet on the ground and makes clear, rational decisions. Zedhryn loathes chaos, making him very tidy, responsible, and order enforcer. However, along with his strong-willed personality comes a very hot-headed stubbornness. Proud of his abilities to gather knowledge, being wrong about something will take time to sink into his pride, and it’s best to leave him to soak in than try force him to accept it. While not intentionally harsh or insensitive, Zedhryn often hurts others’ feelings by the simple mantra that honesty is the best policy. Zedhryn may take emotions into consideration, but really only so far as to determine the most effective way to say what needs to be said. As he loads himself with extra work and responsibilities, turning away good intentions and helpful ideas, Zedhryn sooner or later hits a tipping point where he simply can't deliver. Since he’s heaped the responsibility on himself, Zedhryn then believes the responsibility for failure is his alone to bear. ![]() ![]() ![]() Bad Habits: He tends to bite and sharpen his claws and nails way too often, bite his inner cheek, and zone out after short periods of time without anything in his range of attention. He also is very closed off and wary towards strangers, keeping his eyes away from them even when speaking, having bad blood with others. Zedhryn also growls often, something he blames to being a dragon. Often signals direction with a harsh movement of his head instead of hands. Due to his paranoia and survival instinct, Zedhryn will get rid off any threat in cold blood, easily killing a man if that means to ensure safety.
Good habits: Swimming daily to keep his muscles and body fit, thoroughly cleaning his body between scales, keeping a cold head under pressure. Always double checks sources and keeps written information in case of finding opposite sources, easily adapts to new places thanks to looking up necessary information before-hand. Keeping an eye on his gun’s suppressor condition. Best Characteristic: Strong-willed. Worst Characteristic: Selfish. Best Memory: His teacher Kenji, who Zedhryn considers his father, refusing to leave him alone to deal with the spirit sealed in his mind. ''Do you really think I am going to leave my one and only son all alone in his hardest moments? We will find out a way out of this together, lean on me'' Worst Memory: Coming back from a trip to the mountain with his father and sister to find their home being burnt down to ashes, his mother killed in cold blood, and the unhatched egg of his sister nowhere to be seen. His sister and he being forced into hiding by their father for days, alone, until starvation drove them out and away from home. Proud of: His flying and diving skills, marksmanship, survival instincts. Embarrassed by: Past choices, his inability to properly interact with humans due to social anxiety, the occasional growling and snarling he will let out due to being used to it as a dragon. ![]() |

▷ Ros. A young dragon who seems to feel as lost as Zedhryn does. They find help and comfort in each other's arms, and Zedhryn puts his own goals aside to help the young dragon return to his family. Ros soon becomes Zedhryn's motive, his sun to lighten the dark path ahead of him. ▷ Nolmë. Spirit of Knowledge, sealed within Zedhryn's mind. A true pain in the ass. Nolmë wants to take over Zedhryn's body, patiently waiting for the dragon's mind to die under his hold. ▷ Deimos. Partner in Crime and sort of 'adoptive mother'. She helps Zedhryn to find out the way to get rid of Nolmë, and takes care of him like a mother. ▷ Jon. A Guardian who, along Deimos, joins Zedhryn in his search for a way to separate Spirits from the hosts' mind. An elf who trained Zedhryn and taught him lessons that he didn't know he needed, and who soon became a father figure to Zedhryn. The dragon owes everything to him, Kenji having saved him when they met from a bad wound with nasty future. |

Is he cautious, brave, or reckless in his approach to life?: Used to be quite reckless, now has a more cautious approach to life overall, keeping his senses sharp and being wary. What does he most value/prioritize?: Ros, close people. Family overall, a term Zedhryn does not use lightly, but those he considers family, he prioritizes over himself. Whom does he really love best?: Ros. The younger dragon means everything to Zedhryn, his sun and stars, his home to return to. What would he be willing to die for?: To assure the safety of his family or even trade his life for his missing sister, but Zedhryn values his life highly. Zedhryn usually uses the phrase 'Once a dragon, always a dragon' to explain his 'weird' behaviour, to avoid further embarrassment for not knowing how to behave during the situation. General vocabulary or speech pattern: Average, might sound a bit vulgar due to his lack of human 'ettiquete', and even a bit pretentious if Zedhryn sees himself in clear advantage. Mannerisms/demeanor: Nervous/fidgety/shy, rarely comfortable unless with people / in a place where he feels safe. Typical posture: Stands straight but not stiffly, varies with mood. In case of high stress, or overwhelm, his posture appears highly stiff and tends to back off.
